After winning the 2021 World Car of the Year award, the VW ID.4 is on a mission to prove that electric vehicles are ready to get dirty in professional competition. Volkswagen of America recently announced the entry of its ID.4 AWD PRO electric SUV at the 2021 Rebelle Rally, a grueling eight-day off-road extravaganza over 1,500 miles of demanding terrain across Nevada, Arizona and California. .

In the spotlight, a personalized VW ID.4 AWD Pro. It has two electric motors producing a combined output of 295 horsepower and 339 pound-feet of torque, drawing power from an 82 kWh battery to deliver an EPA-approved range of 249 miles. “Volkswagen helped make off-road competitions popular in the 1960s, and we are just beginning to explore the potential of electrification in off-road powersports,” said Kimberley Gardiner, senior vice president, marketing , Volkswagen of America. “The Rebelle Rally opens a new path in motorsport and represents a great opportunity for us to present our ID.4 and our electric vehicles to an even wider audience.

The rally-prepared VW ID.4 AWD Pro features new suspension components and tubular suspension arms. It also made steel plates, battery box braces, and new wheels wrapped in big Yokohama Geolandar A / T tires. Other perks include a Thule roof rack and a custom body wrap created by Salt Lake artist Liz Kuz.
